And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, an he did eat. Genesis 3:6 KJV

The world is full of problems and each person has their own problems unique to them. There is however one problem that is universal to all men and that problem is sin.

The Bible plainly tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The word sin means breaking God’s law, missing the mark of moral purity, falling short of God’s righteousness.

The text here in Genesis 3:6 is the account of sin entering into the world by Adam’s disobedience. The sin of disobedience was the sin that plunged all mankind into sin and death. Our text tells us that the fruit appeared to be good and pleasant to the eyes.

Sin always wears a pretty coat, but leads to the ways of death. Man has always thought of himself as self-sufficient. Man’s intellect was the area Satan used to lead him to sin. So it has been in our day.

Schools of higher learning have taught against God and the old-time gospel preaching. Our generation with all its advances think they are above sin and nothing is wrong with anything. We live in a world where there seem to be no absolutes.

The word of God has not changed nor is it politically correct.

Sin brought physical and spiritual death on all mankind from Adam to the last person who will be born.

The wages of sin is death. Sin is a spiritual disease that has infected our whole race. Next week in part two, we will look at the universal remedy for sin.

God bless!
